Astronomy's Next Frontier - Discovering New Solar Systems

The Kepler Spacecraft continues to find earth-sized planets orbiting other stars and many of them are in the "goldilocks zone", meaning that they are in the habitable zone of their home star.  Not too hot, not too cold, just right.

Folks, that is just so exciting! As I mentioned in my first blog post, the news above is just more evidence that we're in the midst of the golden age of astronomy.  Once the James Webb telescope deploys in 2016, we'll be able determine their structure and atmosphere.  Imagine, if the data indicates an almost identical atmosphere like our own. Imagine the speculation by all the scientists and regular folk like us. A golden age indeed.

I feel as giddy as Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory would be if a rare comic book was on its way to him.  This is just soooo friggin amazing!!!
